E-Dogg - Trash Cans/Pots 'n' Pans

Back to "The Boyz" page

Elliott draws his interest in drums from his father and grandfather who both made a racket on the skins as well. He began asking for a drum set at 10 years of age and instead got some sticks. He then beat on pillows for the next few years and wore out his childhood friend's old Sears set in the meantime. He FINALLY got a real set in high school, an old 60s silver-sparkle Ludwig. He then moved on to the absurdly large Neil Peart inspired sets of the 70s, finally settling on various smaller Bonham-inspired Yamaha sets. His first drumming inspirations came from such varied artists as The Partridge Family, Kiss, The Eagles, Led Zeppelin and The O'Jays and Temptations.

Elliott has played in various local bands like The Kirk McEwen Band, Cravin' Dogs, Junkfood, Jonasay, 100th Monkey, Dr. Fu and most recently Zombie Jack. He has played all the usual clubs, but also has had the privilege of playing the old legendary DC/Baltimore clubs like The Bayou and Hammerjacks. He even opened up for Kix and Britney Fox at the Patriot Center once in the early 90s. Lots of hairspray that night.

Elliott plays Yamaha Recording Custom and Absolute Nouveau birch drums and Zildjian cymbals. John Bonham, Jeff Porcaro, Stewart Copeland and Manu Katche are the drummers he desperately tries to emulate. FYI… bring your earplugs when Elliott's playing. He doesn't "tickle" the drums.  :)
